Do I need a lawyer for my Ohio Workers Compensation injury?

Some minor injuries with no lasting symptoms do not need a lawyer. In these cases, Emergency Room bills are paid and because there is no time off from work the matter is over. Unfortunately, there are injuries which are more complex and do need guidance. This is where a lawyer’s help is needed. Workers Compensation lawyers do not charge by the hour, so it costs you nothing to discuss your situation with a lawyer. Fees are charged on a contingency of recovery. This means if the lawyer does not get you benefits, he is not paid.

In most cases, your employer will have a lawyer or specially trained lay person to guide the employer. The state agency, The Bureau of Workers Compensation, even has its own lawyers. The employer also has a company which determines your treatment and the length of time it will take you to get better whether you agree or not.

Many benefits are available to injured workers but are not automatic. Workers Compensation laws and rules are complex. Also, if certain decisions are incomplete or wrong and if not appealed timely, needed benefits can be permanently lost. In these situations, a no cost consultation with a Workers Compensation lawyer is a no brainer.
